A Myanmar delegation led by Dr Kan Zaw, Union Minister for In­vestment and Foreign Economic Relations, attended the 4th meet­ing of the Inter-Governmental Russian-Myanmar Commission, along with related meetings and the Russian International Forum and Expo, held at the All-Russian Exhibition Centre (VDNH-Exhi­bition of Achievements of Nation­al Economy) in Moscow, Russia on 27 January, at the invitation of Mr Maxim Reshetnikov, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.

 

The Union Minister’s dele­gation participated in the exclu­sive meeting of the commission co-chairmen and the plenary meeting of the commission on the morning of 27 January.

 

Furthermore, discussions on political cooperation and develop­ment between the two countries took place between the Russian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Iskander Azizov and Myanmar Ambassador to Russia U Thit Linn Ohn.

 

Subsequently, the Minis­ter of Economic Development of Russia guided the Myanmar delegation to the “Feel Russia” travel booth at the Russia Inter­national Forum and Trade Fair, where they explored opportuni­ties for promoting cooperation in the tourism sector.

 

Later in the day, the busi­ness forum continued, with gov­ernments and businessmen from both countries exchanging views on business opportunities, laws and regulations related to trade, investment and agricultural co­operation, tourism sector coop­eration, finance, and information technology.

 

Additionally, the Union minister met with Ms Gohar Barseghyan’s delegation from the Integration Promotion De­partment under the Europe­an-Asian Economic Commission on 25 January.

 

In the afternoon, he attend­ed the Russia-Asia-Pacific stra­tegic cooperation dialogue jointly organized by the Russia-Myan­mar Association for Friendship and Cooperation (RMAFC) and the Gorchakov Fund.

 

They also held discussions with Mr Ivan Polyakov, Chairman of the Russia-ASEAN Business Council, focusing on economic cooperation between Russia and ASEAN countries, trade and in­vestment promotion between Russia and Myanmar, and eco­nomic cooperation issues.

 

Similarly, a separate meet­ing was arranged by the Rus­sian-ASEAN Business Council between Russian and Myanmar businessmen for business match­ing.

 

On 26 January, the delega­tion met with representatives of the Roscongress Foundation’s Investment Fund to discuss is­sues related to the construction of a natural fertilizer factory, a solar power plant, an oil refinery, an animal feed factory, as well as the development of mineral exploration and mining activities.

 

In the afternoon, they met with Mr Anton Kobyov, Advisor to the President of the Russian Fed­eration, to discuss the progress of cooperation with Myanmar and future issues.

 

Additionally, members of the Myanmar delegation, including the Vice Chairman of the Com­mission, the Ministry of Com­merce, the Deputy Minister, and group members, attended an in­troduction and presentation of Aquarius technology products at the headquarters of Aquari­us Technology Company in the evening to explore cooperation opportunities. Upon arrival in Moscow, the Myanmar delega­tion visited the Golden Pagoda in Kaluga Township, Moscow, and toured famous landmarks in the city.

 

The 4th meeting of the In­ter-Governmental Russian-My­anmar Commission, related meetings, and the Russian Inter­national Forum and Expo were also attended by representatives from business associations and the UMFCCI. — MNA/TKO
