Crop compensation was given to farmers whose farmlands were confiscated when China-Myanmar Oil and Gas Pipeline Project was developed in Minbu Township, Magway Region.
The ceremony took place at the meeting room of the General Administration Department in Minbu Township yesterday. 17.60 acres of farmlands belonging to 16 farmers were used for construction of a water course while the China-Myanmar Oil and Gas Pipeline Project was being repaired as it has been eroded by rising floodwaters from Mann Creek last year. A total of more than Ks. 49 million was presented to farmers during the ceremony.

At the ceremony, Chairman of the township farmland management committee U Thein Zaw Kan gave an opening speech and regional lawmaker U Kyaw Ngwe explained the purpose of the crop compensation. Next, an official from the China-Myanmar Oil and Gas Pipeline Project clarified matters relating to the compensation.
Afterwards, regional legislator and local authorities presented crop compensation to the affected farmers.—Myo Myat (Minbu)
