Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports reached 3.8 billion U.S. dollars in the first seven months of 2024, up 23.4 percent year on year, Vietnam News reported Tuesday, citing the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association.

The country's fruit and vegetable industry gained a trade surplus of almost 2.6 billion dollars during the cited period, said the report.

Dang Phuc Nguyen, the association's general secretary, said the Northeast Asian countries such as China, South Korea and Japan, accounted for 80 percent of the export value.

According to the association, since the beginning of 2024, the strong increase in market demand has pushed the export of fruits and vegetables up.
