A Shan traditional food, khaw pote, steamed and pounded glutinous rice, has received lots of orders from Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

Khaw pote is a traditional food and it is consumed the most in upper Myanmar from Shwebo to Kachin State.

“As a traditional food, khaw pote is consumed the most in upper Myanmar- Indaw, Shwebo, Mandalay and Kachin State’s Myitkyina. Its consumption is quite high. So the trade is doing well. I am a wholesaler and through Myawady, I export it to overseas countries — Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand which places orders highest,” said an official from Shan Malay local foods and snacks retail and wholesale distributor.

Goods from Myawady Township have overseas orders a lot, according to local foods and snacks trader.
