A ceremony to open a rural road to traffic was held in conjunction with inauguration of a box culvert in Myayni Village, Hsiseng Township in Shan State on 4 March.
The box culvert was formally opened by Deputy Township Administrator U Saw Maung Bwe, the head of the township police force Police Major Thi Han and a village official by cutting a ceremonial ribbon. The inauguration of rural road followed at a monastery in which the deputy township administrator and the head of the township police force gave speeches and leader of the technical advisory body of the township community driven development project U Myo Thant explained matters relating to the project.
The gravel road is 2600 ft. long, 10 ft. wide and 6 inch thick. It was built with more than Ks. 12 million contributed by the Community-Center Project and donated by local people. The Department of Rural Development under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation and the Community-Centered Project jointly developed the tasks to help local people use the new road in all seasons with greater ease and facilitate transportation and smooth better commodity flow for them.—Khun Ye Htwe
