A forum ahead of the World Water Day 2019 was held, yesterday, at the Myanmar International Convention Centre II (MICC-II) in Nay Pyi Taw, and Dr. Shwe Hlwan, wife of Vice President U Henry Van Thaio, who is the Chairman of the National Water Resources Committee, and patron of the World Water Day Committee, attended the event.
In the afternoon, Dr. Shwe Hlwan, patron of the Water Mother Myanmar, acted as a moderrator at the discussion entitled “Multi stakeholder Forum” and experts took part in the subject-wise discussions. The discussion on the World Water Day 2019 was convened in the morning, where Secretary of the National Water Resources Committee, who is also Director-General, U Tun Lwin Oo delivered an opening speech.
The event was attended by water-related ministerial organizations, officials from the states and region governments, Hluttaw representatives, representatives from INGOs and NGOs, CSOs and other officials. At the forum, academicians and participants made suggestions and discussed water and energy, agriculture and climate change, development of water transports, water management, integrity, involvement in multi stakeholder forum from societies, water and hygiene, allround development of delta area, economy in delta area, collecting rainwater and underground water management. Myanmar has been hosting the World Water Day Celebrating since 2014, organized by the National Water Resources Committee (NWRC) in cooperation with water-related relevant ministerial organizations, organizations, partnership countries, NGOs, INGOs, private enterprises and other water-related stakeholders.
