Japan saw a record-breaking 3.31 million foreign visitor arrivals in October, marking the highest monthly total as a weak yen spurred traveler's inflow, government data showed Wednesday.

The data surpassed the previous high of 3.29 million recorded in July 2024, reflecting a continued recovery in inbound tourism. That was bolstered by a weaker yen and the autumn foliage season, according to the Japan National Tourism Organization.

The number of visitors from the Chinese mainland, which amounted to 582,800 in October, more than doubled compared to the same month last year.

Cumulatively, the number of foreign visitors to Japan has surpassed 30 million as of October.
