ACCORDING to the Fisher­ies Department, Myanmar bagged US$385 million from about 300,000 metric tonnes of fishery products exports in the past seven months of the current financial year 2024- 2025 beginning 1 April.

 

The figures indicated a sharp increase of over $10 million year-on-year.

 

Myanmar steadily ex­ports seafood to 40 coun­tries including China, Thai­land, Bangladesh and Japan through maritime and border trade channels. Myanmar Fisheries Federation and Fisheries Department joined hands to bolster fisheries ex­ports.

 

More than 20 fish species including hilsa, rohu, river catfish, and seabass are con­veyed to foreign markets, ac­cording to the Myanmar Fish­eries Federation. — NN/KK
