NOW, strawberries are being harvested abundantly in Shan State’s Taunggyi and loads of orders have been on the rise.

Orders have been placed from Dawei, Hpa-an and Myawady and the price has fallen now compared to the beginning of harvest season in November.

“Strawberry production has been plentiful now. Orders have been on the rise too. Even we have to request to wait. We are unable to transport daily because the supply is inadequate,” said Ma Sandi Taya, a fruit retail and wholesale distributor from Taunggyi Township.

Strawberry is one of the most-consumed fruits and among the best-selling seasonal fruits in Myanmar. This year’s strawberry production is larger than that of last year and it is mainly grown in Hopong Township. – Thit Taw/ZS
