THE Myanmar Edible Oil Dealers’ Association announced at its 32nd annual general meeting yesterday that it had delivered cooking oil to over 420,000 households by November 2024 through a daily home delivery system, reaching over 5,000 households. The initiative aims to provide convenience for consumers.

The association opened call centres in the Yangon Region in July 2024 to facilitate cooking oil distribution for consumers. Starting in August, home delivery services were launched, initially serving over 700 households daily. By the end of December 2024, this number had increased to over 5,000 daily deliveries, and by November 2024, more than 420,000 households had successfully received cooking oil.

“The old system of selling cooking oil in bulk was unreliable. We’ve improved with new packaging, better distribution through local representatives, and home delivery services in Yangon, especially for busy workers. We’ve significantly increased our reach, from 700 to over 5,000 daily deliveries. Our goal is to ensure consistent access to cooking oil for all,” said the chairperson of the association, U San Lin.

The Myanmar Edible Oil Dealers’ Association is working closely with oil millers, wholesalers, retailers, importers, and transporters to ensure that consumers have uninterrupted access to cooking oil and can purchase it easily. The association is also collaborating with the government to achieve this goal. — Thitsa (MNA)/TRKM
