COUNTRIES worldwide prioritize youth education as a key effort to improve lives and foster national development. A nation can only achieve sustainable growth by investing in the education of its youth. Supporting the education sector is crucial for securing the country’s future.

While monetary, natural, and human resources are crucial for a nation’s development, human resources are fundamental to nation-building efforts. Well-trained individuals can be deployed to help build a modern country. It is only through continuous investment in the development of human resources that they will become a reliable force to drive national progress. Currently, many developing countries struggle to enhance the capacity of their human resources and deploy them effectively in key sectors.

In Myanmar, young people complete basic education at the age of 18 and higher education around the age of 22. They spend about one-third of their lives gaining knowledge and schooling. If the government is unable to effectively manage human resources for the country due to limited job opportunities when these young people finish their education, they will lack proper future aspirations. As a result, they may choose to prematurely leave the educational environment to seek jobs that provide adequate income for their families. In such a case, the nation’s human resources will gradually decline in terms of qualifications.

It can be observed that countries with the highest number of educated citizens are among the most developed countries. “Educated citizens” refers to those with “qualifications” and “the highest number” refers to the “quantity”. Therefore, it is evident that for our country to become one with a large number of qualified and educated citizens, it is essential to ensure the implementation of an outcome-based education system effectively to guarantee quality education.

Only by acquiring essential skills and qualities necessary for survival in human life, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, analytical skills, creativity, and collaboration, can one truly thrive. Those who possess high-level expertise in quality education are more likely to access better job opportunities with good income. Innovators, intellectuals, and those who are hardworking, determined, and persistent tend to be successful in their respective fields.

Schools are indeed environments that not only teach literature but also train students to follow laws, disciplines, and regulations, as well as nurture the youth to develop behaviours that uphold the acts and concepts of responsible citizens. As such, it is necessary to produce a large number of qualified human resources to become reliable forces for the State.
