About ten people have been killed in a shooting at an adult education center in southern Sweden. The suspected perpetrator is believed to be among the dead.

Swedish police say the shooting took place on Tuesday in the city of Orebro. They say there are also a number of people wounded in the incident.

The education center provides math, science and other school courses, as well as vocational training and Swedish language classes for immigrants.

Police are working to identify the victims. They say they are investigating the case as murder and other offenses.

Police say they believe the gunman acted alone. They say the motive for the attack is unknown, but they do not believe the incident is an act of terror.

Sweden's Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson told reporters that many innocent people had lost their lives. He said this is the worst shooting in Swedish history.

The prime minister expressed his intention to provide support in the area where the incident took place.
