SAC Chairman Prime Minister Sen­ior General Min Aung Hlaing held talks with the Special Envoy of the Government of Japan for National Rec­onciliation in Myanmar and the Nippon Foundation Chairman.

 

Mr Yohei Sasakawa, Special Envoy of the Government of Japan for National Reconciliation in Myanmar and Chair­man of the Nippon Foundation called on Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior Gener­al Min Aung Hlaing at the Tatmadaw Guesthouse in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon and donated rescue and relief equipment for the earthquake-affected areas.

 

The Special Envoy of the Govern­ment of Japan for National Reconciliation in Myanmar and Chairman of Nippon Foundation donated 50 backpacks com­prising 14 relief items, 60 rescue hel­mets and one carton of gloves to be used in rescue and relief operations at the quake-affected areas of Myanmar. The Senior General accepted the donations.

 

At the meeting, they cordially dis­cussed the loss and damage caused by the earthquake in Myanmar, the sending of rescue teams by the international com­munity, the provision of rescue and relief supplies, endeavours of international res­cue squads together with rescue teams and volunteers of Myanmar in carrying out rescue operations, special thanks to the Special Envoy of the Government of Japan for National Reconciliation in Myanmar and Chairman of the Nippon Foundation for personally donating res­cue materials to be used in rescue op­erations in Myanmar, and plans of the Nippon Foundation to donate foods and other necessary supplies worth US$3 million to the quake-affected people. — MNA/TTA
