THE Pacific AA Foundation is donating a total of K8 billion to earthquake victims, AA Medical Products Ltd said.
Besides an initial allocation of K2.5 billion in the first phase, it will donate an additional K5.5 billion in the second phase, depending on the needs.
The second round of donations includes vaccinations, insulin injections, cancer drugs, and K3.79 billion worth of 17,034,000 pieces of Nipro brand (1cc) syringes from Nipro Corporation, a leading Japanese pharmaceutical company. Medicines worth K 550 million each were donated to 13 general hospitals — 300- bed Mandalay Training Hospital, Meiktila, PyinOoLwin, Kyaukse, Sagaing, Nay Pyi Taw (1,000-bed), Paunglaung, Shwekyapin, Dekkhina, Lewe, Mandalay, Kandawnadi and Mandalay Orthopaedic Hospital.
A total of K830 million were donated for the relief and resettlement of the quake victims of Mandalay, and Sagaing regions, Nay Pyi Taw, Pyinmana, and Lewe – more than K1.8 billion worth of medicines and medical supplies in the first round and K155.7 million for the resettlement of 53 employees of the Pacific AA Group in the second round.
Moreover, 192 people, including those from the Pacific AA Foundation and Roche Myanmar, donated blood, delivered K5 million to provide food and iron supplements for blood donors, and assisted the National Blood Centre with a K5 million donation.
