It is necessary to seek advice from the earthquake and construction professionals in

rebuilding the offices and departments to have resilience to earthquakes in the long run.

 

Chairman of the State Administration Coun­cil Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing inspected the loss and damage to ministerial offices caused by the Mandalay earth­quake in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

 

Accompanied by SAC Vice-Chairman Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior Gener­al Soe Win, Council Secretary General Aung Lin Dwe, Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo, Union ministers and the Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman, the Senior General looked into dam­aged parts at the offices of the Union Supreme Court and the Ministry of Labour, collapsed re­taining walls of the Legal Affairs Ministry, buildings of the Min­istry of Planning and Finance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the head office of the Social Security Board under the Min­istry of Labour, and temporary accommodation for service per­sonnel. Union-level dignitaries and Union ministers reported to the Senior General on loss and damage to the buildings, the opening of temporary offices to carry out office work, and provid­ing temporary accommodation for staff families.

 

In his response, the Senior General stressed the need to promptly move away important documents, machinery and mov­able materials from the offices. It is necessary to seek advice from earthquake and construc­tion professionals in rebuilding the offices and departments to have resilience to earthquakes in the long run. In constructing the buildings, it is necessary to systematically plan and equip the required water and electri­cal lines to ensure long-term durability. The government will systematically provide tempo­rary housing for staff families. The government will arrange temporary accommodation for staff families systematically. Moreover, it is necessary to supply drinking water and safe water to the staff families, and the government has planned to provide a convenient food supply for service personnel. — MNA/ TTA
