THE Max Cement Taungphila cement factory produces 1,500- 1,800 tonnes of cement daily to ensure the reconstruction processes in quake-stricken areas. The factory also reduced the prices yesterday for the people to be able to purchase it at cheap prices and to conduct the rehabilitation processes more effectively.

The price of cement that was sold at K20,000 per bag for public buildings and ministerial buildings was reduced to K17,500 per bag, while K23,000 per bag for the reconstruction of the houses of quake victims became K20,000 per bag.

The factory reduces the prices, aiming to use the cement at affordable prices in repairing the schools, governmental buildings and public buildings and reconstructing the buildings before the monsoon period, according to an official of the factory.

While the prices are being reduced, systematic monitoring and inspections are being carried out during production to ensure the manufacturing, distribution, and quality aspects, and to guarantee that consumers receive the products systematically. — Mya Nanda/KTZH
