CHINA donated 18,000 metric tonnes of diesel to assist in the rehabilitation efforts following the recent major earthquake in Mandalay Region. The diesel handover ceremony took place on the morning of 2 May at the Brighter Energy Port in Kyauktan Township, Thanlyin District.

 

Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, along with officials, attended the event. Mr Ouyang Daobing, Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy to Myanmar also participated in the handover, together with members of the Thanlyin District Administration Body, officials from the Kyauktan Township Administration Body and officals.

 

According to sources, the donated diesel will be transported by the Ministry of Energy for use in the recovery and recon­struction efforts in areas affected by the earthquake. — Zwe Htet Ko (IPRD)/KZL
