FOLLOWING the recent Mandalay earthquake, Brazil has donated a consignment of humanitarian aid to support Myanmar’s recovery efforts. The shipment includes 13 boxes containing medical supplies, nutritious dried food, and water purifiers, weighing 5,820 kilogrammes. The aid was transported by a Korean Air Airbus flight, which arrived at Yangon International Airport at 7:30 pm on 5 May.
The donated items were handed over by Mr Gustavo Rocha de Menezes, Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil and officials yesterday morning. The donation was accepted by Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, regional ministers, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Department of Public Health under the Ministry of Health, and the Department of Disaster Management under the
Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement.
The chief minister and officials inspected the supplies at the airport and arranged for their prompt delivery to the earthquake-affected areas. — Zwe Htet Ko (IPRD)/MKKS
