THE vessel MTT Sapangar, carrying 95 donated operation rooms from the People’s Re­public of China for Myanmar’s earthquake recovery efforts, ar­rived at Thilawa (MITT) Port at 6:30 pm on 12 May. The South­ern Venture ship, transporting 1,804 modular (prefabricated) houses, reached the port at 6:38 pm on 13 May.

 

The donations were a part of China’s 14th batch of aid to Myanmar and were officially handed over yesterday morning at Thilawa Port. Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, regional ministers, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Publice Health Department, the Department of Disaster Management un­der the Ministry of Social Wel­fare, Relief and Resettlement and local authorities attended the handover ceremony. The equipment was received from Mr Ouyang Daobing, Econom­ic Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy.

 

The Ministry of Health will distribute the 95 operating rooms to earthquake-affected regions. Meanwhile, the 1,804 modular houses are offloaded from the Southern Venture ves­sel using cranes and are trans­ferred to the train for transpor­tation to affected areas.
