Seikphyu, 9 May
In the 2024–2025 fiscal year, Seikphyu Township has cultivated 557 acres of summer crops and plans to grow 71,017 acres of rain-fed crops during the upcoming rainy season.
Local farmers are focusing on agriculture to boost household income, growing summer rice and sesame using underground irrigation systems. Of the cultivated land, 356 acres are planted with high-yield rice varieties such as Aung Naingtoe, Saphotha, and Sinthukha, while 192 acres are used for oil crops including Samonnet, Sinyadana-4, and Theikpannet, all of which are reportedly thriving.
The Township plans to cultivate 71,017 acres of rain-fed crops, including paddy, oilseeds, and pulses. To support this, quality seeds are being distributed. In addition, the Township Agriculture Department is providing farmers with training on effective cultivation techniques.— Soe Lin Naing (IPRD)
