MYANMAR U-19 women’s football team will take part in the 2025 ASEAN U-19 Women’s Championship, which will be held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from 9 to 18 June, with a total of eight teams participating.
According to a lot-drawing event held on 9 May, Myanmar is placed in Group A alongside host Vietnam, Laos and Timor-Leste, while Group B includes defending champions Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia and Malaysia.
This marks the fourth edition of the tournament, following previous editions in 2014, 2022 and 2023. Team Myanmar, coached by Daw Thet Thet Win, began training on 8 May in preparation for the championship. After the ASEAN tournament, the team is also scheduled to compete in the AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers.
In the past three tournaments, Thailand has won the title twice, while Australia has won once. Myanmar reached the semifinal stage in all three editions and has claimed third place twice and fourth place once. — Ko Nyi Lay/KZL
