DUE to the Mandalay earth­quake that struck on 28 March 2025, damage was reported in the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, Sagaing Region, Mandalay Region, Magway Region, Shan State, and Bago Region. Do­mestic and international do­nors and philanthropists have provided humanitarian assis­tance, including essential sup­plies and medicines, and an of­ficial announcement regarding these support activities from 5 to 12 May has been released.

 

From 13 to 19 May, out of the foodstuff, commodities, medicines and medical supplies donated by India, Malaysia, Russia and Singapore Lotus Charity Society, the medicine and medical supplies were distributed to the Ministry of Health, while the foodstuff, commodities and kitchen uten­sils were to the ministries in Nay Pyi Taw.

 

Out of 500 prefabricated offices donated by China, 340 arrived in the country and were used as temporary offices. Sim­ilarly, out of 4,500 prefabricated houses donated by China, 1,576 houses arrived at Thilawa Port on 9 May, while 1,804 on 13 May, and they were distributed to Sagaing Region, Mandalay Re­gion and Nay Pyi Taw.

 

To date, 57 vehicles load­ed with relief materials have been distributed to Mandalay Region, while 29 to Sagaing Region and nine to Shan State (South).

 

The inventory of distribu­tion of donated items by the international donors from 5 to 12 May is mentioned in the separate spreadsheets. The distribution processes will be released once a week. — MNA/ KTZH
