TATMADAW members, My­anmar Police Force members, foreign rescue squads and vol­unteers are making concerted efforts in rescue and rehabilita­tion operations in the Mandalay earthquake-affected areas.

 

Lt-Gen Myo Moe Aung from the Office of the Command­er-in-Chief (Army) inspected the collective cleaning activities at Mandalay Hill.

 

He proceeded to Sky Villa and observed the preparatory measures to demolish “A” build­ing, clearing of debris from the areas where buildings were de­molished, and systematic stor­age of items found during the clearing processes of Sky Villa at the receipt and transfer team temporary office and systematic return of items to the rightful owners.

 

He inspected the completed demolition and ongoing demol­ishing processes of dangerous buildings using heavy machin­ery in Chanayethazan and Ma­ haaungmyay townships.

 

Lt-Gen Soe Tint Naing from the Office of the Com­mander-in-Chief (Army) went to Chauksugontaw at the Triya­dana Mahaaungmyay Pagoda in Amarapura Township, Mandalay, and inspected the clearing of de­bris at the religious buildings.

 

He also inspected the com­pleted clearing activities of dif­ferent organizations at the re­ligious sites in Hmantan ward of Amarapura Township, and the demolition of buildings with machinery by Oriental Highway Company and Chinese Hokkien tribes, and donated cash and offerings to Pinma Padamya Yeiktha Sayadaws.

 

Lt-Gen Myo Thant Naing from the Office of the Command­er-in-Chief (Army) attended the awareness seminar on earth­quake-resistant building con­struction at Mya Sein Yaung Hall in Singaing township.

 

He inspected the sales of cement, iron bars and plywood at cheap prices for the recon­struction of quake-hit pagodas, religious buildings and houses in Sintgaing.

 

He proceeded to basic pri­mary schools in Ohhteintaung and Sitta villages and inspected the construction of temporary school buildings.

 

He also observed the con­struction of modular container houses and work processes at the Land Records Department in Singaing township. — MNA/ KTZH
