A fingerling releasing ceremony was held this morning at Hmyawlint Port in Shwe Myaing Thiri Ward, Mawlamyine Township, Mon State by the District Fisheries Department to promote the sustainable development of fish resources and strengthen food security.

The event was attended by U Htun Wai, Chairman of the District Administration Body, and member U Kyaw Myint, U Hla Min Zaw, head of the District Fisheries Department, along with staff, U Aung Win Naing, Chairman of the Township Administration Body, district and township-level departmental officials, members of the District and Township Fish Releasing Supervisory Committees, representatives from the District and Township Women’s Affairs Federation and the Maternal and Child Welfare Association, the Ward Administrator and local fishermen.

The ceremony, organized by the State Fisheries Department, aimed to enhance fish production, replenish fish stocks, prevent resource depletion, ensure food security, and encourage increased fish consumption. As part of the event, 100,000 two-inch fingerlings from the Thaton Fish Hatchery were released into the Ataran River.— Khin San Myint (IPRD)
