MYANMAR Sepak Takraw Team secured further gold and bronze medals on the fi­nal day of the China-ASEAN Sepak Takraw Tournament, held on 4 June in China. The tournament concluded with My­anmar’s strong performance in both the men’s and women’s quadrant events.

 

In the men’s quadrant events, the Myanmar team won the gold medal. During the group stage, they defeated Ma­laysia in straight matches and beat Vietnam 2-1, advancing to the semi-finals. In the semi-fi­nal match, Myanmar convinc­ingly overcame the host team China with scores of 15-11 and 15-5. This win led them to the final, where they faced Vietnam again. Although they lost the first set 13-15, they bounced back to win the next two sets 15-12 and 15-10, securing the gold.

 

In the women’s quadrant event, the Myanmar team faced Vietnam in the semi-finals. They lost 2-1 and had to settle for a joint bronze medal. Despite the defeat, the team demonstrated solid performance throughout the tournament.

 

Altogether, the Myanmar Sepak Takraw Team partici­pated in four events and won four medals: gold in the men’s regu event, extra gold in the men’s quadrant event, bronze in the women’s regu event and another bronze in the women’s quadrant event. — Tun Thway Eain/KZL
