THE second matchday of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup third-round qualifiers will continue today (10 June), with the Myanmar national team set to face Pakistan.
The Myanmar and Pakistani national teams will compete at 5 pm Myanmar Standard Time today at the Thuwunna Youth Training Centre in Yangon. Although the match was initially scheduled to be held in Pakistan, it was relocated due to a request from the Pakistan Football Federation, resulting in Myanmar playing at home. As a result, the Myanmar team will play two consecutive home matches.
On the first matchday of the group stage, held on 25 March, Myanmar defeated Afghanistan 2-1 at home, while Pakistan lost 0-2 away to Syria.
The Myanmar national team began training for the match against Pakistan on 23 May. Although the team did not play any official international friendlies, it played two warm-up matches — one against the Myanmar U22 team and another against an MNL All-Stars team composed of foreign players. — Shine Htet Zaw/TTA
