THE Regional Workshop on Sharing National Export Strategies to Enhance Agricultural Trade and Investment in BIMSTEC was organized virtually on 18 June, and Director-General Dr Thandar Kyi of the Planning Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation served as chairperson.
The workshop was also attended by experts of the International Food Security Research Institute, the Myanmar Rice Federation Chair, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Commerce, BIMSTEC member states and other relevant officials.
Myanmar hosted the workshop as per the Plan of Action on Strengthening BIMSTEC Agricultural Cooperation 2023-2027.
The workshop focused on the role of national export strategies in the promotion of agricultural sectors, the social status of farmers in BIMSTEC, challenges and opportunities in facilitating the trade of agricultural products and the exploration of obstacles in trading, promising chances and challenges and investment in agricultural trade of BIMSTEC regions.
Moreover, the workshop exchanged the national export strategies to promote agricultural trade and investment in the BIMSTEC regions. — MNA/ KTZH
