No one was injured after a 10-wheeled truck caught fire in Taninthayi Township on Monday night. The 10 wheel truck bound for Mawtaung, a border town from Taninthayi Township caught fire at milepost 14/2 on near Yayphyu Village at about 10 p.m. on 11 March.

The fire is attributed to have started from an overheated front wheel of the truck. The whole truck has been badly consumed by the fire but the driver fled the scene. Policemen, firefighters, security personnel and villagers rushed to the scene of the fire where they completely put out the blaze by using one fire engine and two water tankers at around 11:15 p.m.
The estimated loss of property due to the fire is about Ks. 12.5 million. The truck driver has been charged with fire negligence by the local police station.—Myint Oo (Myeik)
