A basic Russian language course opening ceremony was held yesterday morn­ing at the Golden Palace Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw, to provide better services to Russian tourists visiting Myanmar.

 

The event was attend­ed by Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Kyaw Soe Win, Deputy Minister U Phyo Zaw Soe, Nay Pyi Taw Coun­cil Member U Zeya Lin, departmental officials, representatives from ho­tel and tourism associa­tions in Nay Pyi Taw, hotel staff, members of the Rus­sia-Myanmar Friendship Association, instructors, and trainees.

 

At the ceremony, the Union minister stat­ed that Russia is one of Myanmar’s key source markets for tourism, and that efforts are underway to provide services in the Russian language for Russian tourists visiting Myanmar. As part of these efforts, Russian language diploma courses, basic Russian language cours­es, and refresher cours­es are being conducted in Nay Pyi Taw as well as in various regions and states across the country.

 

He encouraged the trainees attending the basic Russian course to study systematically, im­prove their language profi­ciency, and actively partic­ipate in the development of the tourism industry.

 

Following this, an instructor from the My­anmar-Russia Friendship Association explained the purpose of the course and the content to be taught. The Union Minister then presented commemora­tive gifts to the instruc­tors.

 

The Basic Russian Language Course is being attended by staff select­ed from various depart­ments and the Boards of Trustees of Maravijaya Buddha Image and Up­patasanti Pagoda, and em­ployees from hotels and guesthouses in Nay Pyi Taw. The course will run for four weeks. — MNA/ MKKS
