MYANMAR U22 football team is taking intensive training as part of preparations to take part in the AFF U23 Champion­ship 2025 to be held in mid-July this year.

 

The Myanmar U22 team has to participate in three main international competitions this year. The squad will compete in the 2025 ASEAN U23 Champi­onship to be held in Indonesia from 15 to 29 July. Currently, the Myanmar U22 team is un­der the training of Japanese Head Coach Hisashi Kurosaki, starting from March this year.

 

The Myanmar U22 team played two friendly matches against the Hong Kong U22 team in Yangon in March and two more matches against the China U22 team in China in June. Since the start of their training camp, they have also continuously played closed-door warm-up matches against domestic football clubs and the Myanmar national team. On 30 June, they played a closed-door friendly match against Shan United, one of the top clubs in the Myanmar National League, at the Salin Stadium.

 

In the 2025 AFF U23 Cham­pionship, the tournament will be held in three groups. Group A includes Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Brunei. Group B comprises Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos. Group C consists of Thailand, Myanmar, and Timor-Leste. The Myan­mar team will compete in the group stage matches against Timor-Leste on 16 July and Thailand on 22 July. — Chit Ko Ko/TTA
