THE second quarterly Myanmar-China media tea party for 2025 was held on the afternoon of 30 June at the headquarters of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), located in Crystal Tow­er, Kamayut Township, Yangon Region.

 

Before the formal discussion began, media representatives were briefed by ICBC Yangon and Xinhua News Agen­cy officials on the operations of their respective organizations.

 

Opening remarks at the meeting were delivered by Minister Counsellor Mr Zheng Zhihong, ICBC Chairman Mr Liu Ming, and Deputy Director U Zeya from the Department of Media Development. Discussions focused on the current collaboration between Myanmar and China in media develop­ment, cultural exchange, and broader development sectors, as well as future cooperation plans. Speakers included Myanmar Press Council Chairman Dr Tin Tun Oo, U Aung Myint Soe from Myawady Television, U Ye Naing Moe, Editor-in-Chief of Shwe Myo Paukphaw Magazine, and Daw Hnin Pearl, Third Secretary of the Cultural Department at the Chinese Embassy.

 

Additionally, Daw Sandar Moe from ICBC’s financial department gave a de­tailed explanation on bilateral economic and trade-related information, including progress in efforts to promote the Chi­nese yuan as an international currency.

 

Xinhua News Agency, a Chinese media organization based in Myan­mar also contributed by highlighting its role and ongoing participation in Myanmar-China media cooperation.

Chinese Embassy officials, includ­ing Minister Counsellor Mr Zheng Zhi­hong, responded to the points raised by both Myanmar and Chinese media representatives. — ASH/MKKS
