Pwintbyu, 2 July
Pwintbyu Township in Magway Region has completed the cultivation of 2,711 acres of peanuts for this year’s rainy season, according to the Pwintbyu Township Agriculture Department.
Out of the targeted 3,619 acres, planting began in June, and 2,711 acres have been successfully planted to date. The Department of Agriculture is actively conducting field visits to educate farmers on best practices, including selecting high-quality seed varieties, improving cultivation techniques, managing pests and diseases, and applying inputs systematically to boost yield and quality.
Daw Moe Moe Wai, Staff Officer of the Township Agriculture Department, noted that increasing peanut yields not only meets local demand for edible oil but also provides income opportunities and supports socio-economic development through the sale of surplus crops. She emphasized the importance of expanding peanut cultivation across all suitable areas.—Hlaing Win Lay
