Padaung, 2 July
Forests provide vital protection for people, animals, the environment, soil, climate, and help mitigate natural disasters. In an effort to prevent deforestation and promote environmental sustainability, the Township Forest Department organized a rainy season tree planting ceremony this morning near Milepost No. (11/7) on the Pyay–Taungkot Road, close to Natmauk Village Tract in Padaung Township, Bago Region.
The event began with U Htet Aung-1, Staff Officer of the Township Forest Department, handing over saplings to U Aung Thura, Chairman of the Township Administration Body.
Following the handover, staff from the General Administration Department, Township Police, members of the Township Maternal and Child Welfare Association and the Women’s Affairs Federation, township-level department officials, and local residents—193 participants in total—planted 700 saplings across designated areas. The six tree species planted included 250 teak, 150 mahogany, 50 khayee, 100 manjasha, 50 seinpan, and 100 ngu saplings.
Chairman U Aung Thura and other officials toured the planting sites and observed the tree planting efforts.—Lapyae Lin (IPRD)
