PEOPLE, together with members from relevant organizations, partici­pate in rehabilitation efforts in dam­aged areas caused by the Mandalay earthquake.

 

Yesterday, Sagaing Region Chief Minister U Myat Kyaw and Lt-Gen Thet Pon from the Office of the Com­mander-in-Chief (Army) observed the clearing of debris at the religious sites in Sagaing, and the land area to re­construct the Maha Zedihla Pagoda severely destroyed by the quake, and the renovation of Mahiyangana and Laykyun Mahnaung pagodas.

 

They also oversaw other cleaning activities in the compounds of pa­godas, monasteries, basic education middle school (branch) and houses in Sagaing.

 

Likewise, Lt-Gen Soe Tint Na­ing from the Office of the Command­er-in-Chief (Army) and relevant offi­cials inspected the repair work at the Shwekyatkya Pagoda and removal of damaged parts of collapsed build­ings in Amarapura, Chanmyathazi and Chanayethazan townships in Manda­lay. — MNA/KTZH
