THE Myanmar Comedians Association will hold its 15th annual homage ceremony for senior veteran comedians as part of its long-standing tradition, according to U Dain Dawng, comedian and chairman of the association’s central executive committee.

The event is scheduled to take place on 7 July at the association’s Yangon Region office, located within the Mibakyeyzusek Pagoda compound in Ward 48, Dagon Myothit (North) Township, Yangon Region.

“There are challenges with organizing the event this year. To be honest, things haven’t gone smoothly. We feel sorry for asking donors for support during a time when much of the country’s focus is on earthquake recovery efforts. The biggest challenge is funding. Organizing in Nay Pyi Taw is difficult due to travel issues, so we decided to host it in Yangon, where transportation and accommodation are easier,” U Dain Dawng explained.

He added that this year, the association aims to support the honoured seniors not only through the homage ceremony but also by planting medicinal fund trees and monthly donations. “I plan to contribute as much as I can,” he said.
