COORDINATED rehabilitation efforts involving various organizations and local communities continue at full strength across the affected regions, following the powerful Mandalay earthquake that caused widespread destruction.

Yesterday, Lt-Gen Thet Pon from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), along with responsible officials, visited several religious buildings and pagodas in Sagaing that had sustained damage. The team inspected damage to religious buildings, monasteries, and pagodas, and coordinated with relevant authorities to help maintain a clean and orderly urban environment. They also provided refreshments to the workers and discussed necessary support with the responsible personnel.

Next, Lt-Gen Thet Pon and officials inspected the comprehensive reconstruction of the Basic Education Middle School (Chinsu-branch) and residential buildings, which were destroyed by the earthquake, and coordinated with the officials on the necessary support.

Similarly, Lt-Gen Soe Tint Naing from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and his team visited Mahaaungmyay and Aungmyaythazan Townships in Mandalay, where earthquake-damaged structures remain. They observed the use of heavy machinery to clear and inspected the process of reconstruction works. — MNA/MKKS
