THE Chinese Embassy to My­anmar and the China Media Group (CMG) jointly organized a China-Myanmar Dialogue on the Implementation of the “Global Governance Initiative: Consultation, Contribution and Shared Benefits” yesterday af­ternoon at the China Cultur­al Centre in Ahlon Township, Yangon.

 

The event was attended by Minister-Counsellor of the Chi­nese Embassy Dr Zheng Zhi­hong, Deputy Director-General U Zeyar of the Media Develop­ment Department under the Ministry of Information, Chair­man of the Myanmar Press Council Dr Tin Tun Oo, senior adviser Dr Naing Swe Oo and member Dr Khin Maung Lwin from the Myanmar Institute of Strategic and Internation­al Studies, representatives of Shwe Myo Pauk Phaw Maga­zine, and other invited guests.

 

The ceremony began with the screening of a documentary video on the “Global Govern­ance Initiative”. Minister-Coun­sellor Dr Zheng Zhihong stated that the initiative, proposed by China, is an important addition following the Global Develop­ment Initiative, the Global Se­curity Initiative, and the Glob­al Culture Initiative. Looking ahead, China will continue to play the role of a responsible major power, supporting re­forms and improvements to the global governance system by providing methods and re­sources. He added that China will strengthen exchanges of governance experience with Myanmar, move forward togeth­er along the path of moderniza­tion, and promote the steady and long-term development of the China-Myanmar community with a shared future.

 

During the dialogue, at­tendees discussed, from differ­ent perspectives, the essence of the Global Governance Ini­tiative, its significance for to­day’s world, and the pathways it offers to support Myanmar’s development, highlighting its positive impact on global pro­gress. — MNA/MKKS
