A ceremony to open the archway of 39th Anniversary Pa-O National Day took place at Thiri Hall, Hpa-an, Kayin State yesterday evening with the aim of promoting the Pa-O ethnic traditions, customs, culture and literature.
Chief Minister of Kayin State Daw Nan Khin Htwe Myint, Hluttaw Speaker U Saw Chit Khin, Minister of Pa-O Ethnic Affairs U Khun Myo Tint, U Khun Soe Naing from Ethnic Affairs Committee and secretary of Pa-O Ethnic Literature and Culture U Khun Minn Aung cut the ceremonial ribbons to formally open the ceremony.
There are 150,000 Pa-O ethnic people throughout the Kayin State according to 2014 censuses. The event contains entertainment, Pa-O traditional culture contests and dancing, sports and others from 17 to 20 March. –Saw Myo Minn THein (IPRD)
