A man drowned when a boat anchored in the waters near “Seikgyipyin jetty sunk in Pyinnge village-tract in the township of Myeik in Taninthayi Region yesterday.

           

According to information that a man was drowned, U Min Min Oo, administrator of Kahan village-tract and villagers searched for the missing man who was found dead in the waters at around 4:30 pm on 17 March.

 

It is learnt that the boat carrying sand was anchored in the waters near “Seikgyipyin jetty, with three workers onboard at about 9:30 pm on 16 March. Thura Soe (a) Naung Phauk, 23, Ye Thu, 20 and Aye Lin, 21, all the three from Taungphila village of the township, were sleeping in the boat when it started to sink at about 3:00 am yesterday.

 

The sinking boat forced them to abandon the boat and swim across the waters to the beach. It is known that Thura Soe and Ye Thu did not know how to swim. Unfortunately, Ye Thu failed to get to the beach although the other two managed to reach the beach, it is learnt.

           

Action is being taken by the police whether it was foul play.—Myint Oo ( Myeik)
