The security personnel from No 1 Checkpoint in Maungtaw on patrol along the Naf River found a suspicious-looking boat heading towards Bangladesh. They signaled the boat for inspection but it fled. The authorities chased three men on the boat and managed to arrest one man along with a package believed to be drugs near Zipinchaung Village.

 


The investigation revealed that a man, identified as Abhusidi, 38, son of Swezaw Talaung of Yaydwinpyin (North) Village, Maungtaw Township. Police Inspector Aung Kyaw Soe and policemen from Anti-Drug Squad-46 opened the packaged and discovered 39000 stimulant tablets worth K 78.00 million.

 


It was revealed that Sawlin, 27, son of Hsu Alaung of Mingalakyi Village and Rawshi ,18, son of Guramya of Zipinchaung Village hired the boat owned by Abhusidi with K 50000 to take them to Bangladesh side and the owner of drugs was Sawlin.—Thet Lwin Sow, Township IPRD
