Unseasonal widespread rains triggered by strong winds have collapsed 33 houses and destroyed 23 houses in Myeik Township, Taninthayi Region on 18 March.
In addition to the collapsed houses from six villages, untimely rains have also damaged two schools and a poultry farm, said U Aung Myat Thu, the village administrator. No casualties were reported in the incident. The storm victims are currently taking shelter at their relative’s houses in the villages, he added.
Accompanied by the township administrator, the commander of the township police force and concerned officials, the head of the district police force Police Lt-Col Kyaw Myo Myint went to Tonebyaw Village where some houses and one school were damaged by untimely rains and donated five rice bags to the storm victims.—Khaing Htoo (IPRD)
