Over 18 tons of illegal timbers together with one backhoe, two six-wheeled trucks and three motorbikes were seized in the town of Mongsat in eastern Shan state yesterday.
Shortly after information received, a joint contingent of departmental officials led by Major Pai Oo of local battalion rushed to the site east of Naungpha village in Menin village-tract. The authorities seized 169 sawn Padauk blocks weighing 18.6562 tons in total—nearly two tons of timbers on the two six-wheeled trucks and 16 tons of sawn timbers in the environs of the site together with one backhoe and three motorbikes abandoned.
