A traditional Lethwei challenge between Myanmar warriors and Muay Thai fighters will take place in Kyaikto, Mon State on 8 April.
The Lethwei fight marks the Buddha Pujaniya festival of a sitting Buddha statue believed to be the largest of its kind in the world in Kyaikto Township. Lethwei warrior Paik Htway will fight a Thai opponent in the main event. Young Lethwei fighter and former WLC champion Kyaw Zin Latt will clash with a Thai fighter in the co-main event.
Kyaw Swar Win, the fastest rising star from the Mandalay-based United Lethwei Club will compete with young pugilist Hein Tun Aung. There will also be another five bouts between Myanmar fighters during the event that will be broadcast live on SKYNET channel.—By Kyaw Htike Soe
