One person has died and 11 others were slightly injured after a light truck overturned in Ottwin Township, Bago Region on 19 March, said the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The accident occurred between mileposts 137/2 and 137/3 on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway at around 3:10 p.m. yesterday when a light truck with 19 passengers aboard from ChaungU Township, Sagaing Region flipped over after the sleepy driver lost control of the car. The vehicle was heading to Nay Pyi Taw from Yangon and was driven by a man identified as Maung Thein, 45 years old.

A 45-yeard old Buddhist nun died on the spot and 11 people sustained minor injuries in the incident. The injured people were sent to a public hospital in Taungoo. The driver was charged with reckless driving by the Highway Police Force.—MOHA
