THE Government has taken the fight against telecom fraud and online gambling as a na­tional duty and is actively car­rying out suppression efforts in coordination not only with domestic forces but also with the governments of neighbour­ing countries, to prevent such crimes from establishing any foothold within Myanmar.

 

In connection with the sei­zures, combined security forc­es continued aerial and ground surveillence and area-clearing operations in Mongyai town­ship of Shan State (North).

 

At 7 am yesterday, about 35 kilometres southeast of Mongyai, near Haikpu Village, suspicious buildings were dis­covered. Upon inspection and search, the location was found to be a site conducting online financial fraud and gambling activities. A total of 330 Chinese nationals involved in online scam and gambling operations – 321 males and nine females – were arrested. Authorities also seized 15 temporary buildings constructed with green tarpau­lin sheets, 10 buildings under construction, two generators used in the scam operations, 208 assorted mobile phones, 86 all-in-one computers, seven laptops, 23 Star Link devices, and 10 vehicles.

 

Seized materials will be managed in accordance with the procedures. Those involved in the cases will also be thor­oughly identified and effectively prosecuted. — MNA/KTZH
