THE Department of Bridges under the Ministry of Construction said that toll fees will be collected for the use of the Myanmar-Korea Friendship (Dala) Bridge starting from 12 February.
According to the prescribed toll rates, under Class 1, private passenger vehicles weighing under three tonnes (Class 1) will be charged K500 per crossing. Light trucks, Canter and Dyna vehicles (Class 2) will be charged K1,000 per crossing. Minibus-type vehicles (Class 3) will be charged K2,000, while small cargo vehicles (Class 4), including eight-wheel and six-wheel trucks, will be charged K4,000.
At present, vehicles are allowed to cross the bridge free of charge. However, agricultural vehicles, bicycles, motorcycles and three-wheeled vehicles are not permitted to use the bridge. In addition, vehicles that are not mechanically sound are also prohibited from crossing the bridge. It is also reported that arrangements are being made to allow some public YBS bus lines to operate across the bridge within this month.
The Myanmar-Korea Friendship Bridge was opened on 6 February and has been open from 6 am to 8 pm daily until 11 February. From 12 February onwards, the bridge opening hours will be extended from 4 am to 10 pm — ASH/ KNN
