Mandalay 21 March With the aim of conserving environment in Mogok, pine and cherry trees will be planted on 23 March, according to the Natural Green Association. Local people from 16 villages near Taung Min Taug area in Mogok Township were without electricity sixty years ago, and they have to rely solely on firewood. This has begotten deforestation in the areas. “The deforestation makes weather colder and sometimes water freeze” said a member of the association. Therefore, a total of 1,000 pine and cherry trees will be planted and public awareness on environmental conservation will be conducted” said U Maung Maung Oo from the association. The 16 villages will enjoy electricity 2019-2020 fiscal year. Ei Moh Moh Khaing Translated by Suyee
