Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe says Japan, as the host of the upcoming G20 summit, hopes to put the issue of the connection between the internet and terrorism on the agenda.

Abe made the remark to Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison in a telephone call on Wednesday.

Morrison asked Abe to arrange talks on the issue at the Group of 20 summit to be held in Osaka in June. The request comes after a video of last week's mosque attacks in New Zealand was widely circulated online.

Abe told Morrison that Japan is resolved to resolutely fight terrorism, by joining hands with New Zealand, Australia and the rest of the international community.
