YANGON Region Chief Min­ister U Soe Thein said dur­ing the awards ceremony for the Space Art, Cartoon, and Poster Competition held on the morning of March 3 at People’s Square that since its opening, the Space Muse­um (Yangon) has welcomed approximately 140,000 visitors to date.

 

The Chief Minister stated that upgrades are underway to expand the museum into a world-class facility in South­east Asia. “We have opened the Space Museum (Yangon) to allow Myanmar citizens to study space science, sowing the seeds for space technolo­gy. Our youth now have the op­portunity to study it and bring their dreams to life,” he said.

 

The museum is a modern upgrade of the former Plane­tarium and officially reopened as a space museum on 30 No­vember. It is located at the People’s Square, Dagon Town­ship, Yangon and open 9 am to 4 pm on weekdays except Monday and 8 am to 5 pm on holidays. Admission fees are K500 for monks, nuns and stu­dents, K1,500 for adults (over 12), K1,000 for children (under 12) and K5,000 for foreigners.

 

The competition ran from 27 February to 1 March, fea­turing over 6,000 participating students in various artistic categories. — MT/ZN
