TO mark the 80th anniversary of the Myanmar Motion Pictures Organization, Academy Award-winning actor Khant Si Thu donated two vintage vehicles – a 1935 Ford Sedan and a 1955 Ford Anglia – to the organization on 8 March for use in film productions, according to the actor himself.

“The Myanmar Motion Pictures Organization was founded on 8 March 1946, so this year marks its 80th anniversary. On this occasion, I donated a 1935 Ford Sedan and a 1955 Ford Anglia so that members of the film industry can hire and use them on film sets. I also donated bread and bottles of water within my means. I am pleased to be able to contribute, as much as I can, to the celebration of the organization’s 80th anniversary,” said actor Khant Si Thu.

At the ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Myanmar Motion Pictures Organization, the opening ribbon was cut by the organization’s chairman, director Kyi Soe Tun, patron director Maung Hnin Moe, Academy Aung Lwin and several artistes. Chairman Kyi Soe Tun also delivered a congratulatory address.

As part of the 80th anniversary celebration, tea, bread, Myanmar fried dough sticks, iced coffee, cold drinks, Thai fried rice and traditional Myanmar snacks were served to guests and film enthusiasts attending the event. In addition, the film ‘Chit Pan Thazin’ was screened at the Shwe Yadana Hall of the Myanmar Motion Pictures Organization, and a lucky draw programme was organized for the organization’s members. — ASH/KNN
